Pharmacodynamic Studies and Its Effects On the Body

Page View:

Pharmacodynamics is the study of the biochemical and physiologic effects of drugs (especially pharmaceutical drugs). The effects include those manifested within animals (including humans), microorganisms, or combinations of organisms (for example, infection).  Pharmacodynamics is the study of how a drug affects an organism, whereas pharmacokinetics is the study of how the organism affects the drug.  Both together influence dosing, benefit, and adverse effects.

Pharmacodynamic Studies and Its Effects On the Body

Pharmacodynamics is sometimes abbreviated as PD and pharmacokinetics as PK, especially in combined reference (for example, when speaking of PK/PD models).

Pharmacodynamics places particular emphasis on dose–response relationships, that is, the relationships between drug concentration and effect.

Pharmacodynamics study was conducted on drug effectiveness evaluation, aims to elucidate the mechanism of drug prevention and diagnosis of diseases and provide scientific basis for the development and evaluation of drugs.

Effects On the Body

The majority of drugs either

(a) Mimic or inhibit normal physiological/biochemical processes or inhibit pathological processes in animals

(b) Inhibit vital processes of endo- or ectoparasites and microbial organisms. There are 7 main drug actions

– Stimulating action through direct receptor agonism and downstream effects
– Depressing action through direct receptor agonism and downstream effects

– Blocking/antagonizing action (as with silent antagonists), the drug binds the receptor but does not activate it
– Stabilizing action, the drug seems to act neither as a stimulant nor as a depressant
– Exchanging/replacing substances or accumulating them to form a reserve
– Direct beneficial chemical reaction as in free radical scavenging

– Direct harmful chemical reaction which might result in damage or destruction of the cells, through induced toxic or lethal damage (cytotoxicity or irritation)

Medicilon established the corresponding pharmacodynamics study of experimental models and methods, from the whole, cell, molecular and gene levels to evaluate the efficacy of new drugs, from which to explore the mechanism of action of drugs.

Projects include antitumor efficacy of drug testing, evaluate the pharmacodynamics of cardiovascular drugs, pharmacodynamics’ evaluation of anti-inflammatory drugs, hypoglycemic pharmacodynamics of drug evaluation and pharmacodynamics’ evaluation of genetic engineering drugs.

Medicilon has a highly professional team which has a wealth of pharmacodynamics research experience.  We can undertake traditional Chinese medicine, natural medicine, chemical drugs, biotechnology drugs and other pharmacodynamics research for the new drug to provide a reliable test basis for scientific research.
